The old approach: build a list of companies that fit your ICP, load them into a sequence, and start messaging. The new approach: build a list of companies that fit your ICP and are showing intent signals right now. Same outbound mechanics. Completely different starting point. The reply rates reflect the difference.

What intent signals actually tell you
Intent data doesn't tell you someone is ready to buy. It tells you someone is thinking about the problem you solve. That's valuable for two reasons: it's a prioritisation signal, and it's a relevance signal.
Knowing someone is actively researching your category gives your team context to write messages that land differently than a cold opener.
The sequence structure that still converts
Five touches over twelve days:
Personalised email referencing a specific signal
LinkedIn connection request — no pitch, just connect
Follow-up email — one question, not a pitch
LinkedIn message — brief, direct, relevant
Final email — acknowledge timing, offer a resource
No more than five touches in the first sequence. If they don't respond, move to a 30-day nurture cadence. Don't burn contacts by over-sequencing
